Houmour for the Hat/Crown!!!

But I have one question and one question only.

What in the world is that thing on her head?

(I know it is a hat but my mind still have difficulty to accept such a headwear...)

If you could explain what that is then my brain would be grateful.

Seriously?

What kind of crown is that? It looks like something a child would strap up to a rope and fly in the wind with.

Did medieval people really had to express their power through the size of their hats?
And wouldn´t wearing that thing be the same as to set-up a huge painfully obvious target on her head?

I mean...

Like this exchange between two human assassins.

"Okay, that´s her."
"Are you sure?"

"Of course I am! She is wearing that crown!"

"Okay, so where should I aim with the rifle"

"Aim for the hat!"

"But what if it´s bulletproof?"

(Short pause)

"Okay, new plan, take aim with the cannon!"

"Wouldn´t she notice that?"

"With that thing on her head? Just aim the cannon."

"Okay..."

"And make it look casual, like we are practicing or something."

"What if that hat is cannon proof?"

(Short pause)

"Don´t be ridiculous! There, all set."

"We are SO dead if this fails..."

"Show some faith! It´s not like she can see this coming..."

"I don´t know..."

"Fuse lit and bye bye Empress!"

(Thunderous boom, a couple seconds later)

"HOLY SHIT! She cleaved the cannon ball in half!"

"Damn it! We need to retreat."

"Man...she is looking this way..."

"Of course she is, the cannon went off."

"...and now everyone is looking this way."

"Shit...shit...shit..."

"We are so dead! She is going to have us hanged!"

"Not if we do this..."

(a short pause)

"We are going trough the window? Are you crazy? we won´t survive that!"

"We are not going to jump either, now take this pill."

"What is it?"

"Stand by the cannon while I stand here by the door. on two, eat it."

"What is it?"

"Our way out, one way or another."

"Are we killing ourselves?"

"NO! It will knock us out and make it look like we were ambushed. No guilt, no blame, right?"

"I don´t know..."

"The witches are going to be here in minutes, either you fly or sleep! One!"

"We are so dead..."

"Two!"

(Loud gulp, two heavy thuds hits the floor and the door to the tower bursts open by members of the silver guard.)

Anyway, I still don´t understand the point with something that elaborate as a crown unless it is to show off...
